Bruce Stockwell is a lifelong banjo-player and a veteran on the bluegrass scene. He's been playing since he was knee-high to a grasshopper, and he's got the chops to prove it. A common occurrence during a Mustard session: Bruce takes a banjo break and plays something that's deeply rooted in tradition, but at some point he takes a curve toward the creative and it blows everyone's mind. At a Mustard show, you'll often see those looks of "wow!" between the other bandmates when Bruce puts the mustard to it. Winner of the 2005 Merlefest Bluegrass Banjo Contest, Bruce graciously shares his talents. He teaches students of all levels at his home in Putney, VT, which is how he met Kelly, devoted first as banjo student and then as Bruce's wife! Bruce has been Bill's teacher for the past couple of years as well, working together with the help of the New Hampshire Council on the Arts grant that funded their year of study and kick-started the band. Bruce also teaches banjo courses at Banjo Camp North every year in Groton, MA.

Bruce did it on the stage with a banjo. Get info on lessons, Banjo Camp, and The Stockwell Brothers.
